Ashwagandha is an Indian herb used in Ajurveda, and a very potent one with wide ranging effects. Indian supplements carry a reputation for potential of being contaminated or adulterated because of lack of regulation so it is important to get it from a company you can trust, like Jarrow.. I have never had a problem with one of their products. and the strict independent supplement testing and review organization Consumer Lab has never found a problem with one of their products and always rates them highly. This formula is a patented extract called KSM66 and it is standardized to have an especially high level of the active compounds of Ashwagandha, withholides. This means any patented extract can be relied upon for especially high quality assurance and listed amount and purity of herbal ingredients every time. One note, as another reviewer pointed out, that Jarrow previously used a different patented extract called Sensoril, it seems like until about two years ago, but now uses the KSM66 extract. Different extracts have different experiences sometimes even for the same person, and the Sensoril has a reputation for calming, while the KSM66 has a reputation for being more invigorating. Keep that in mind reading mine and other recent reviews compared to anything from 2015 or before.This Ashwagandha supplement I am using for adrenal support as an adaptagen, which is an herb that like the more famous ginseng in that it supposed to support you during times of stress whether you need balancing out in either direction. This is another reason different people experience different effects from the same herb and even from the same extract - it helps you in the direction you need it to. It balances out your cortisol in response to stress, giving you a quiet calm while giving you more energy and strength when you need it.Ginseng doesn't work for me but this herb does. I find this Ashwagandha KSM66 extract to be stimulating without the "revved up" feeling of caffeine. I get the experience of inner strength, energy, stamina, focus, and concentration, which lasts all through out the day. This patented extract is very potent - I started out taking one capsule three times a day and had to cut back because it was too much. I backed off to two times a day, and then discovered that I do best taking one to two capsules in the morning depending on how I feel that day, and then it last well into the afternoon and evening for as long as I need it. Contrary to what others have said, it does not help me sleep it keeps me awake, so that's why I switched to the morning only dosing. Also, two capsules at once is stronger than one capsule twice daily and lasts longer through out the day. I highly recommend this Ashwagandha extract as an adaptogen for whatever your needs may be - you basically have to try it and see if it makes a valuable contribution to your life and your burden of stress and exhaustion. Just remember this is a potent extract, and use accordingly. I plan to keep ordering and using this high quality Jarrow product for the forseeable future.

I'm now on my second bottle. This has been a life changer. I have suffered from an anxiety disorder since childhood. Ive tried multiple medications over the years but many of them had side effects or carried a risk of dependence. I have always been extremely skeptical of herbal remedies, but this has been hands down the best thing I have ever used. I no longer get many of the physical manifestations of anxiety or panic, heart palpitations, that sick sinking feeling in my stomach, the jolts of unwanted adrenaline at inappropriate times. My sleep has been better, my mood has balanced out, when stressful things occur they just do not affect me the way they used to. Its not to say I feel no anxiety, its just so far reduced I keep noticing things after the fact. For example, I went to a super busy store and wasnt bothered by the crowds, my friend commented that he was surprised I wasn't overreacting to it and rushing to get out of there. Driving in traffic is much less stressful. I do not in any way feel drugged or impaired. The only side effects I noticed were drowsiness the first week or so I took it, that has since gone away and if anything I feel more energetic.I am not overstating anything, I just wish I had known about this a long time ago. If you are skeptical, I was too and I expected nothing but wasted money to come from this. This of course is just my anecdotal experience, but there is also a lot of evidence and studies that have been done supporting its efficacy.

I feel like I may need to take two at a time instead of one but it’s helping me keep calm so I’m glad I purchased it. I also took one pill with my Magnesium Glycinate pills and that combo makes me sleep sleep.
