Great tank
This tank was easy to install. However getting it to work was tricky. The batteries that come with this do not work and you need to go purchase good batteries and it will fire right up and works amazing.

Gas line and hot water line leaks
I bought this water heater to use in my camper van conversion as I did not want to use my precious electricity to heat my water. I made the mistake of buying the bulk of the large items needed for my conversion at the beginning of the project so by the time I got to the plumbing part, the he return window had closed. So I crossed my fingers and hoped that the unit worked fine.Upon initial inspection, it looked fine with no signs of obvious damage or defects. I hooked up all the lines per the instructions (terrible, two paragraphs by the way). First test run both the cold water inlet and the hot water outlet had leaks. Ok, no problem, I’ll just put on some more Teflon tape and tighten the connectors down some more. That took care of the problem for the cold water inlet leak but not the hot water outlet leak. So I tightened some more and tried again. Nope! Still leaked! Ok, third times a charm right? This time I felt the actual copper pipe inside the unit twist when I went to tighten the connection. I took the cover off and verified that yes. The cheap copper pipe inside was twisted. I inspected the pipe as best I could and it seemed to still be intact but now I had a leak that I couldn’t do anything about. I tried to take the connection off to re-tape and try a new connector but it’s stuck on there. Not coming off and three people tried! So I tried FlexSeal to stop the leak. Nope, still leaking. So I’m thinking that it’s coming from the copper pipe inside that I accidentally twisted while trying to tighten the connection. Not sure there’s anything that can be done at this point as this was technically my fault. As for the gas leak, after the initial test of the unit it smelled of propane so I tightened everything down again and sprayed soapy water to check for leaks. Yep, there was a propane leak but not coming from the hose from my tank, but the actual fitting on the unit itself. I tried to tighten that to but the leak persisted. I was doing a test of the other parts of my plumbing and had the sink faucet open and running for a good five minutes. When I turned it off everything stunk of propane and when I went to check the hot water heater, there was an actual flame coming from the propane connector (the one that came with the heater). Blew that out and turned off the propane. So now I’m thinking of just tossing the whole thing and starting from scratch with a new one. Seeing other people’s horror stories of poor customer support, I doubt it would do any good to contact the seller and ask for assistance. Might have to just bite the bullet and buy a whole new one.On the up side, despite both leaks, the heater did in fact heat my water and I was pleased with that!

Amazon Has Let Me Down, I will miss them!
I gave this review 5 stars to get your attention. I used code words. 5 stars in this case means 0 stars, as in zip, nahdah, no no way uh uh forget it!The short story: I purchased this hot water heater and it didn't work. When returned it I was charge a $41 "restocking" fee. Amazon would 'not intervene', (again, code words for Amazon's response of GFY!)The long version: I did a lot of research on this HWH on Youtube. My greatest concern, at the time, was the 'Ventless" claim. Could I mount this in my RV, under the sink, safely? The answer was yes. Many people said they bought this unit to replace the previous version which had lasted up to 10 years, (I am now of the opinion that these units where well built at one time. Now, not so much). So I was sold. I installed the unit and heated my water, instantly, for about 5 seconds. Then, nothing. I checked my gas, 12 inches WC, and my water pressure, 40 psi post regulator. I contacted Excel via chat. Their 1st question, "are you using the batteries we sentcha?" Yes! Their response, get new ones, alkaline, (an exercise in futility as I could plainly hear the igniters sparking, but hey, what do I know?). I ventured off to the store and complied. Same result, 5 seconds... nahda! I contacted Excel again. They said remove the cover and video the unit "not working". Ummm, no! I didn't order a project. I ordered a functioning hot water heater. Upon reading the reviews (I know, a little late, $41 error) I found this to be a common complaint. I returned the HWH. I suspected shenanigans and called Amazon right away and was assured I'd get an email within 48 hours with their disposition. Still waiting. They refunded me $181. I called again saying that one of the main reasons I use Amazon is for their customer protection. They said I would get the difference within 2 to 3 days. A week later I called them and they said Excel test the unit and as it was used, but in excellent condition, they refunded my purchase price, less the restocking fee, cause, ya know, they're givers. So... Walmart here I come. BTW, I just did a price comparison of the things on my wish list and I'm going to be just fine.Hasta La Vista Amazon. Don't let the door smack ya where the Lord cracked ya! BTW, while you are over there, standing in the corner, wondering why everyone is so finicky about customer service, say hi to Shirley from Verizon. She's been there since 2003.

Flow control issues
The product was easy to install but there was an issue that concerned me. The water heater supposed to turn on when there is water flow but eventho there wasn't water flow the water heater would turn on and the water heater would heat up so fast and make crackling and popping noise, so I would have to open the battery cover to shut it off. To remedy the issue and I install the on and off switch, so before I shower, wash dishes, or wash hands I start running the hot water and switch on the water heater once done I shut off the water heater and then the water. There is a way to fix the water flow problem by tapping the censored area or flipping the water heater upside down but that's a temporary fix from what I found out because the issues started back up.
