Strong starter cranks the 23hp Briggs I installed it on just fine. Only thing I noticed was it comes with a spare extra gear, I wondered why but was glad it did. 2nd time I tried to start it, it stripped the teeth clean! Put the other gear on it and so far so good, hasn’t missed a beat. Don’t know why it done it for sure but it happened, just glad they sent a spare.

The motor itself is great but the plastic pinion will leave you aggravated when it blows to pieces. They don't make them like they used to.

The new starter motor had a gear that was not made of steel. I used the steel gear that was on the original motor,(an easy switch). Every thing worked out well.Dillon

The plastic gear it comes with winds up breaking. Not a reliable alternative but will get the engine running.

My near 30 year-old starter on my Briggs 12.5 IC motored lawn tractor over the past year cranked slower and slower until it couldn't turn the motor over at all, despite a fully charged battery aided by a jump box. I pulled off the starter and after determining the part number of a replacement ordered this unit. It came quickly, packed well, including a bonus spare plastic starter pinion gear, as well as a few pieces of hardware that must be used in installations different than mine.The starter turns over the motor very quickly, despite the cold temperature here. I couldn't be more satisfied with the quality and great value of this replacement starter which solved my problem so quickly & easily..

The only reason I gave 3 stars on longevity is because I just installed it. Time will tell how well it holds up but, it is made well.

Part was perfect match. But like somebody else wrote. Take the time to remove plastic gear... other than that. Starts right up

Perfect fit my toro work horse 8-25 shaft is shorter but not worries back in business perfect part perfect seller thx.
