Samsung Electronics 870 EVO 2TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-77E2T0B/AM)

My mom's computer's hard drive crashed. I had reinstalled Windows once, but it crashed again. This time it said "Windows has left the computer," or some sort of message. I ordered this one, it got here in two days. I had researched it, and had a bag of old computer screws I had bought for other projects. I found the 2.5" bay I also had read, and used four smallish screws.If you order one you might want to add some screws--you'd think they'd send four with it, but they didn't. Regular computer screws are a little too big. IF I hadn't had that bag of varied screws I would've had to wait.I plugged in the USB stick I had just downloaded Windows 11 on and had the smoothest and quickest install ever. I downloaded all of the programs (took much longer) and I've got mom back up and running again, or actually since she's 94, walking with a cane.It is true. These SSD drives do make the computer zippier. And the SATA plugs matched perfecly with the 9 year old one, something I had also researched. Still, when they clicked into place proper it gave me a good feeling. Nothing to complain about here.

I have an old Dell 980 Optiplex tower PC. It had two 300 GB HD's. I have RAM maxed out at 16 GB and can't upgrade the CPU to anything much better than what I have (Intel i7 860).I run Windows 10 and have quite a bit of software installed. I've stopped all of the necessary Windows Services as I can, and only have a couple of apps starting up. But as we all know, a ton of things still need to load when Windows starts.Anyway, I finally broke down and decided to replace my Western Digital HD (the C: drive) with this Samsung 870.The experience has been AMAZING. First of all, I bought the $10 USB cable, installed Samsung Magician, and cloned my C: drive onto it. The software was so EASY to use. That whole process was completed in about 3 hours.I also bought a $10 Dell OR494D caddy on ebay, to mount the SSD in (had to customize the originally caddy just a tiny bit to get this drive to line up with the second drive, since they share a power cable).My life before the upgrade... I would DREAD having to restart my PC because, and I'm not exaggerating, it would take 25 MINUTES to get Windows up and the 5 main apps that I use, open. I know that is a 1st world problem. But 25 minutes to get a PC restarted and ready to be productive again is painful!My life after the upgrade... I now am up and running everything in under 2 minutes!!!Whereas in the past I would launch an app, then purposely wait 30-60 seconds before launching the other one (to minimize disk access), not I launch, launch, launch apps as fast as I can click the icons.For under $60, this was a life changer...

I updated my 2015 DELL PC Tower with old 1 TB HDD, Windows 10, using the Samsung 1 TB 870 EVO SSD. The speed of boot time is impressive. It used to take minutes to boot and load my apps, now it takes seconds. Note: The Samsung Magician software could not clone my old HDD. I researched and found that I needed a software product for old HDD to new SSD cloning. I bought "EaseUS Disk Copy" online and used this software to clone my old HDD to my new SSD. This software worked easily and perfectly. I am glad I spent some time and money to update my old pc. To me, it was well worth it.

I bought this a couple years ago for my mom's Dell Inspiron laptop because the HDD was extremely slow, and both startup and shutdown are very fast after installing this SSD! It works really well! I was also able to use the Samsung Migration cloning software to copy all the files and OS over to the SSD!

It's a good SSD, probably the best SATA SSD on the market right now. It manages to achieve very low temperatures in IDLE mode, and when I load data to and from the SSD, temperatures consistently barely reach 30 degrees. Highly recommended.

I've installed about 50 of these in various client laptops/desktop computers to replace standard spinning drives. There isn't a better upgrade you can buy to speed-up your PC. Not one has failed, so reliability is at least as good if not better than standard drives. As a bonus, in a laptop, this will extend battery life and reduce heat.
