Can people give me an idea how much data people are using per month for an average household?
Hi, does it have good wifi range, thanks.
Can anyone confirm that this 4G router definitely has an external antenna socket, and what type of plug it takes, thanks.
Hi! does this have any way for monitoring data usage on a daily basis? eg. not more than 1gb per day or free surfing at night?

Great 4g router

Works really.Easy to setup, great WiFi signal. Used this with EE and had really fast downloads.Took this away with me on holiday in the UK and it was lightweight yet felt well built.

Great 4G router.

I am very impressed with this 4G router. So easy to setup, lots of features and I can use the app to check that it is online from home (bought it to monitor a family members house whilst he is away in hospital and its linked to two external cameras. He had no internet and I git a 50Gb data sim from Lebara at £1 for 8 months (with no commitment to a contract after). Its been up a few days and has been stable and working well. My brother is so impressed he is going to get one for his campervan (shame it doesn't work of 12v or using a usb cable)

This didn't work for me.. at first

Only connects with internet to apple devices and Windows laptop. Android devices, smart TV and fire stick all connect with no Internet. Spent hours in chat with tp-link support but got nowhere until they suggested removing SIM card from router and putting it in my phone - of course I lost connection to the chat at that point. Shouldn't be this difficult. It's not the lyca mobile SIM because that provided 4g Internet in my phone and through the router to laptop. For something costing £90 I would expect it to connect and provide Internet to all platforms. May try the support again but I'm losing the will to live so probable returning for a refund and will try a different brand. ShameUPDATE 2 Stars added: Gave the support another go and while they were discussing what to try next I created a new profile and changed the APN settings then set manual WiFi channels for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. This had the desired effect and I'm able to get Internet on all devices at speeds up to 35mb/s. Glad I didn't give up.

Useful

Very useful to put your connection though a sim card rather than your landline. Works well and requires the minimum of setup.

This item is 4G, and works for me very well.

Once you have read the instructions the setup is quite straightforward.

BEWARE!! This is reporting all your info to a data collection company called Avira.

Before you consider buying this, just copy-paste…‘’TP_Link router sending data 80k in 24 hours’’…into any search engine. I guarantee you’ll think twice about buying this when you see what comes up..Nobody wants to get away from the main internet providers more than i do. So these SIM routers seemed like a good idea. But i've tried a couple of different ones now, and they are just a complete nightmare. They only seem to work if you do not want a secure connection to the internet at all. They don't just struggle with security, they actively fight against it..And even if you don't care about your online security, these routers are not exactly reliable. Because when i say that i've "tried" these, what i really mean is that i have spent five or six weeks now fighting with the damn things..Not everyone has 5G yet, so sticking with 4G for a while is fine. And there are even certain advantages to sticking with 2.4Ghz for now rather than 5Ghz (2.4 often has a more solid signal over shorter distances). But these routers seem to struggle with more modern and secure HTTPS sites rather than the older and less secure HTTP. And so far, no matter what i've tried with any of these, they often just won't work with a VPN on. Add to that the Wi-Fi signal dropping out almost every 30 seconds (even with VPN disabled), and you have yourself one hot piece of garbage. Yes, the Wi-Fi signal picks up again. But this constant dropping in and out has some other negative consequences..The only security precaution these seem to have that works is the worst possible one. Just as you are starting to get anywhere in the routers own settings, you are logged out at a rate that honestly feels like it is every 20 seconds. It almost feels like a deliberate effort to make you just give up and not care about what's going on in there..And the claims that some of these routers can handle up to 32 devices online at once is complete and utter BS. In my experiments, they often struggle with as few as 4 (crawling along like it's still last centuries internet), they certainly show signs of struggling with 6 devices, and by the time your home tries to have 9 devices online at once then you'd better start prioritising because some are just going to be completely unusable, if they don't just fully crash. Add to that, this totally shut down on only the 2nd or 3rd day i had it, and had to have a factory reset and be completely set up again from scratch, and then did it again 3 weeks later! While we are on the subject, T.P.Links ''help'' is beyond a joke..BUT THE VERY WORST THING IS THIS:Someone over on Reddit noticed something up with his T.P.Link router and decided to do some digging. He found out that it was reporting his tech usage (what devices he has, what websites he visits, etc) back to a known data harvesting company up to 80,000 times in 24 hours! And apart from anything else, that's all using data that HE is paying for!! I know this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but since then not only have T.P.Link confirmed this, but they have also tried to pass it off as ''a glitch'' in some hardware..Yeah, right..
