Review for 13mm Oxiken Max (and also 16mm YC DGYCASI Max)
My husband and I were both looking for upgrades from our beginner paddles. I chose the 13mm Oxiken Max for me. I am a 5.0 tennis player and can get good pace and spin on the ball. This paddle has a TON of grit on the carbon face. It’s comparable to the Joola paddles that cost twice as much. I noticed an immediate improvement in power and control as well as moderate improvement in spin. It also has a longer handle (see pics) which is great for the 2 handed backhand. I've played about 5-6 games with it and love it so far.One thing to note is that we noticed “flaking” of the carbon surface. You can see several very tiny white spots spread out across the face in the last photo. We will keep an eye on this and update if needed. My husband is an intermediate player and is more of a banger than a control player. We chose the 16mm YC DGYCASI Max based on online reviews to help with his dinks and control. He found that it significantly improved control and ability to dink and reset without popping the ball up or mis-hitting into the net as much as his last paddle. Does have some grit on it but not nearly as much as the Oxiken. However he still did notice a moderate improvement in spin while serving. It does have more of a muted sound versus the louder “clicks” from other paddles. Being that it is a 16mm width, it may lack a little in power and pop than other paddles but that’s not what he needed from it and it’s got enough to put the ball away consistently. If you’re looking for control and accuracy, this is a great paddle.Overall, these are great paddles for intermediate/advanced players especially on sale for 50% off!

rough surface didn't last long!
The paddle is good for the money. The problem I have with it is the finish doesn't hold up very long. There are a lot of white spots where the finish flaked off.

Accurate
It really has improved my accuracy. Great paddle.

Low priced, high quality paddle
Been using this paddle for about 2 weeks now, and it has definitely improved my game. My serves are more accurate and powerful, and I can execute resets and drop volleys better now. I like the paddle's raw carbon fiber surface (which enhances my strokes and spins), long grip (for my 2-handed backhand), protective cover, and classy blue and black design. I'm a 3.5-4.0 in pickleball and would recommend this if you're not a fan of pricey and branded paddles (paid less than $40 for this via Amazon Prime). I ordered the 16mm version too and I'm looking forward to playing with it when it arrives.

Super paddle
I've been using this paddle for the last couple of weeks. It has improved my game by enabling me to put spin on the ball. The paddle grip fits my hand well - and I have small hands. It is light weight and yet solid. Definitely find that I am able to hit more accurate shots with this paddle than I could with my smooth coated face on my beginner paddle.

Good beginner paddle
Nice grip, slightly thicker than most paddles, which is good for larger hands like mine. Not as great a grip on the ball as more expensive paddles, but you get what you pay for. Would recommend for someone who wants to try out pickleball and get better, but for a more serious player, I would consider a higher price range.

Best Beginner Paddle
This is the best paddle! If you are a beginner and just picked up a local big box store paddle-put it away and buy this paddle. The price is amazing for what you get. Paddle is light weight and makes hitting the ball so much easier. I am 5’2 and the paddle is longer but actually works really well for me. The ladies I play with all played using it and said they were ordering one immediately. You should too. Btw I never write reviews so that is how much I love this paddle.

A Nice Paddle, but not the best for beginners
I just picked up pickleball a couple months ago. I got this paddle because 1) the sale price is the right price for a paddle of this quality (don't buy it full price lol), 2) it came with a nice cover, and 3) it looked cool. Now the cover is really nice and it does look pretty cool for sure. The build materials might be nice and the paddle is the right shape for beginners...but man is that sweet spot small. When I hit it just right, it's great. You can hit some really good shots with the paddle for sure. It certainly is a step up from the cheap paddles I got in a bundle for 20 bucks lol.Like I said, I'm a beginner, so I'm still working on my reaction time and getting the angles right on my shots. And if I hit anywhere off-center, you can just feel the "thud" as the ball lazily returns right into the net. Knowing what I know now, I would have ran a Google search for "pickleball paddles with a large sweet spot" to help me pick out a good beginner paddle. There are a couple clear winners out there, but this isn't one of them. One of those paddles is around the same price as this one (only $10 more when the 13mm is on sale).I got the 13mm paddle because it's supposed to offer more control than the 10mm, but the 10mm might have a little more pop to compensate for hitting out of the sweet spot. Bottom line, it's nice, but not great, especially for beginners. And whatever paddle you choose, get one with a sleeve like this one so you can throw it in a regular gym bag.

Quality is as advertised. So far I am loving it.

Grip wears quickly
The bottom part of the grip is already wearing out after less than 4-5 hours of play. I would have expected a better grip cover endurance for this class of raquet. Also the sweet spot is not very generous. Still a fine overall racquet. Light weight and well balanced.

the best paddle
This is the best paddle I have ever used. What makes it exceptional is the entire paddle is a sweet spot. Many paddles come with the extra width or elongated ,etc. This paddle is just "normal" size but the is its reason for having the best control compared to all the fancy paddles endorsed by pro players. If you can find a paddle for 4 x the price let me know. I bought the 16mm thickness . Just bought a second paddle only because this is so good for ALL levels of play ( beginner to professional) control 10/10 power 9/10 spin 9/10. This paddle is an 11 out of 10

On my way to be a much better player
This paddle offers the possibility of increased spins and is much faster. Took a while to get used to it.

Oxiken refuses to reply to my query about SWING WEIGHT
I am having difficulty with 'sweet spot' and high lobs control and want to add lead strips to optimize this paddle. I tried THREE times to get an answer to the manufacturer's SWING WEIGHT, which is essential in determining lead tape placement. All I eventually received was the weight of the paddle which was different from what I easily weighed on my accurate kitchen scale. If you like a budget paddle with little manufacturer response, this SS Oxiken is for you.Personally, I would NOT recommend this paddle.
