It's a little bit better than a manual stethoscope. At least I don't have to get close to finding a noise with my head. The headphones have a long enough cord that you can keep out of the way of dangerous equipment when trouble shooting. Great amplification vs. no amplification with the manual stethoscope.

I use this to pinpoint leaking seals in pcp air rifles. Does a nice job.

Works better then I had hoped. I usually only use the longer probe but it's nice to know if I need smaller one it's there. Sensitivity is very accurate. Ear phones muffle enough noise to hear accurately. I like being able to control the volume so more obvious noises use a lower setting while more faint noises use a higher setting. I ensure everything is it's protective case to limit the possibility of damage. I'm a mobile mechanic and have used these to diagnose faulty fuel injectors, ball joints, timing components, and bearings. If I ever break it or it fails, I will purchase it again.

The wand is a solid rod, will not work for small air leaks. That's exactly what I wanted it for, to hunt down a pesky leak on an air shocks system. Returned item which was 100% hassle free.

It probably works to find a nock or tap but does not work for AIR!!!

This is a decent-quality *contact microphone*, and quite sensitive for detecting vibrations and internal machinery noise. However, it barely picks up ambient sounds, so I was unable to use it to localize the hissing air leak in a pneumatic system. The description says "Air Leak Detector", but I found it unsuitable for that purpose and returned it.

Didn't know these existed until Amazon brought it up in a search. We use it to find problem components inside PCs and Servers. Works great.
