Way better than a large Android phone - no stylus included
I had never heard of TCL before this, but I see they also have a phone. This tablet doesn't come with a stylus, so you'll need to buy that separately. At the time of writing, this is on the product page for around $40. There's also a case you can buy for around $30, which I would recommend, as there is no built-in way to make it stand up.In many ways, it's like a large Android phone, with a couple of cameras on the front (13MP and 5MP) and one on the back (8MP), going up to 2K video, which is fine for most video calling etc. but probably not for taking high quality photos or video, but that would be awkward anyway, given the size of this screen, but I've seen people use their iPads in this way, so it's not unheard of. It's very slim, just like another well-known similar device.Set up for this tablet was very easy, because it's using the standard Android OS, so you can get started by connecting to the Wifi and then connecting your phone to it using the USB cable, to copy things over like apps, websites, passwords etc., which makes it useful from the beginning. It took a while to copy everything over from my phone, but you can customize it and not copying everything. I used the same USB power cable it came with, to connect my phone to this tablet. Overall it took about 30 minutes to install the apps I had on my phone, because it downloaded those from the store, not from my phone.Once set up, it seems snappy, and intuitive. The usual buttons for viewing and closing apps are all there. It also includes the security you might expect with codes and facial recognition as needed, as well as being able to use Google to back things up.It's a quite large tables, with 14.3" and a decent resolution too, 2400x1600. It comes with 256GB of onboard storage, which is usually enough if you're using cloud storage for stuff, and the apps don't use my space. With Netflix and Prime you could download TV shows and movies, which would use of some of that space. One feature it makes clear, is the ability to change the display mode, from regular color, to a Color Paper (muted color tones and a pastel color white background) and Ink Paper (no color, icons are made of lines only, and the background looks like pastel white too). This would be nice for extended use I assume, and in particular, useful with the stylus, but it wasn't clear to me why I would need these modes. The display surface itself is a matte, slightly rough feel (barely), which is great for reducing reflections, but probably nice with the stylus - I didn't get a chance to try. Finally, I would say that the sound from the 4 speakers are adequate and clean, and the frequency range is reasonable, but I didn't hear much in the bass frequencies for the music I played on it.

Disappointing - just get the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus
I was pretty excited for tcl's new tablets as there aren't many tablets that have a matte display. I have both the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus and the TCL NXTPAPER 14 and the smaller 11 plus is pretty much better in every way.The 11 plus has the following benefits over the larger 14:- Brighter, sharper display with better viewing angles- 120 hz support vs 60 hz on the 14 (this is huge)- Newer OS Android 15 - the latest version vs android 14 on the 14.- Newer chipset - HelioG100 vs HelioG99 on the 14- More ram 12GB vs 8GB on the 14.Also, as you would imagine, the 14 is just much larger and you probably won't be carrying it around as much. The TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus is also much cheaper at $250 from walmart currently. For more money I thought the 14 might be a higher end tablet but the 11 plus seems like the better choice for most people. If you REALLY just want a large screen tablet and can get this on sale it's not terrible and there isn't really anything else from a name brand at this price point, but it could have been so much better.

Nice large tablet
This TCL tablet is nicer than I was expecting it to be. It's slim and looks very high quality. It's big at 14", but also nice for getting things done. I really like the matte screen, didn't realize I needed that until I started using this. It has base android on it so anyone familiar should have no problems navigating that. Setup was super easy and all my details came in easily once I logged in. The speed seems fine, but I'm not doing anything super intensive either. The audio from the tablet is quite good. Watching videos on there is nice. The buttons all feel good and have a nice, quiet, click about them. There's an option to launch with Windows login, which is great if you have your profile setup for that. There's a button up change the view (to "paper" style) quickly. It's nice to have the 2 additional options if you intend to use this as a reading tablet often. The memory size at 256gb is adequate for what I need to do. The one downside are the cameras. While I don't intend to take pics from this tablet, the pictures and videos from this are not great. The cameras work perfectly fine for video calling but that's about it. It also doesn't come with a stylus so can't use the other capabilities of this at the moment. Definitely get a case as this sis not have any built in stand or any protection. I would say this is a decent value for the money as a whole, but they should include a stylus and even a basic case to differentiate from the competition. Overall it's a nice tablet for general users and is recommend it

Very impressive
It has a matte screen but still has great colors. It's pretty responsive/fast and the camera is actually good, not that I often use a tablet camera. The speakers are surprisingly good, the light sensor is a little touchy but I feel the same about my cellphone auto dimming. The physical built quality is superb. Good weight to it, very smooth, very strong feeling. This is a really excellent tablet especially for the cost. The operating system is very clean as well. No bloat on it, but that also means it doesn't have its own notes or drawing apps. I tested a bunch of pens I have for other devices and none of them worked so it may need some type of proprietary stylus. Watching videos on this is pretty sweet. It's like it was made for it and again even though it has a matte screen the colors are still good. I'm thoroughly impressed with this tablet.

Nice tablet
This is a large sized tablet, which is good because otherwise I need reading glasses to see anything on the screen. It responds well and quickly, and has lots of RAM and memory. It comes with a charging cable, type C. It is easy to change between the modes, like paper style and color paper, etc. The touchscreen feel is nice. I am sure I will use it more than the other one I had!
