Alittle Hot at Full Power, but Holds True to the Specs
This 24V to 12V DC-DC Converter has proven to be a reliable solution for my power conversion needs in my portable power station. One of the important features for me is its waterproof design, which provides peace of mind when using it in various environments, particularly outdoors with rivers/lakes/boats.On the positive side, the converter consistently delivers stable and efficient power, which is crucial for my electronics. It handles a substantial load with ease, making it suitable for high-power applications under the specs of 360 Watts. The very compact size and build are additional plus points, as they ensure durability and make installation pretty straightforward. However, there are a few drawbacks to consider here with this little unit. The unit can get quite warm/hot under heavy load, so I would add adequate ventilation to prevent overheating. This is you plan on running it a lot. Mine never gets hot under the general use it gets. Only when I stress test it at full wattage for over 30+ minutes. Additionally, while this unit is generally reliable, the absence of detailed instructions might pose a challenge for folk who are not familiar with electrical installations. Ensuring correct wiring and setup is essential to avoid potential issues. Electric fires are no fun.Overall, if you need a dependable step-down converter for your 24V to 12V needs, this product is a strong contender for its low price point. Just be prepared to manage its heat output and ensure you have a basic understanding of electrical connections. Its performance and durability make it worth considering for all types of projects like my DIYs.

Works Great Except When It's Cold Outside
Works pretty well. Been using on my kids' Power Wheels for a little over a year (30 amp version) to convert 18V Ryobi tool battery to 12V output. My one complaint, as others have noted, is that this thing doesn't like cold. One review says 7.5V output under a certain temp. I haven't checked that, but I do know that the car won't run at all under a certain temperature, so whatever voltage it is, (the DC motors shouldn't care too much about that, they should just run slower). One star off for that. If you sit there for a few minutes with your hands on the unit, it warms it up enough that it starts putting out enough amps and voltage to get the car going, at which point it will keep itself warm from using it. A little annoying, but it's good enough at this price point for my kids' toys. My youngest spends hours per day running this one in particular and we haven't had it fail yet. The other one from a different brand never had the cold issue, but that one failed today and it got significantly less run time, so I think that's a worse tradeoff. Buying another one of these to replace the failed one. I wouldn't rely on it for some critical outdoor tool though. That would be bad if you relied on it for emergency lighting or something and it wouldn't work when it's cold outside.

Many different uses
I've bought a few of these for multiple purposes. Originally I bought it so I could run 12v LED lights directly from my 36v e-bike battery. I have since bought a couple more for some more esoteric projects.I have used one to revive a completely dead car battery. A "smart" battery charger wouldn't even try to charge my wife's car battery after it sat for a little over a month without use. I connected one of these to a 250W (37.5v) solar panel and the 12v part to the dead car battery. After a few hours in the sun, the voltage on the battery came back up to 11-12v, which was enough to convince the battery charger that it could charge on its own.I have also used it in an experiment to run a 12v water pump directly from those same 250w solar panels. I was able to rig it up to convert the 37.5v down to 12v for the pump, which then pulled water out of my swimming pool, ran through a length of black pipe to heat up the water, and dump it back into the pool. All without any external electricity input! The pool got too warm for comfort in the summer, so I shut the project down, but knowing I can do this during the shoulder months will help us extend the swim season. And finally, I am now using one to power some 12v LED grow lights directly from a solar panel. It's like the plants live on the same cycle as ones grown directly by the actual sun, since this only kicks on when the panel generates enough power to run the lights, and automatically shuts down when the sun goes down. The plants are healthy and safe from outdoor heat, frost and high winds, and again there are no ongoing costs for electricity.Highly recommended if you need to convert voltages.

Did not work upon installation.
I installed this as per instructions but there was no 12 volt output. This module came non-functioning. The only load is an LED headlight and taillight system. I ordered a 30 amp replacement and installed it as per instructions. It functions perfectly. My choice to purchase this 20 amp module initially was because of the large number of satisfied purchases. I guess I got a dead one.

Works perfectly!
I recently upgraded my old Club Car DS over to one single 36-volt lithium battery instead of six lead acid batteries. All the lights and accessories on the golf cart are 12-volt and they will burn out if you connect them directly to a 36-volt battery. This was very easy to connect, and it works perfectly. I'm sure that there is some parasitic draw, but my lithium battery has a button to completely shut it down so that nothing can draw any power from it. This is a must if you upgrade to a single lithium battery, and I highly recommend this to do the voltage drop you will need.
