Great Basic Paddle And Value!
This is an excellent basic paddle for the cost. I have not seen a better value in this price range (~$50 when I bought it). The only reason I bought this one was to replace the identical item which was lost. That one lasted 6 years and was in as good condition as the day I purchased it. Note that this broader blade design is best for maneuverability rather than for speed, and for my fishing kayak is perfect for precise maneuvering around vegetation and timber, quick stops and starts, and tight turns where needed. This tough paddle holds up to pushing off rocks and timber, and even poling your kayak off the bottom or through thick weeds. While this paddle will not compete with featherweight carbon fiber paddles in weight, it is certainly light enough for easy handling. If you are strictly an open-water distance paddler, then look for a narrower, longer blade for efficiency. This is not a negative for this paddle--only a factor of what it was best designed for. If you are looking for a tough fishing or maneuvering paddle, this is it!

Nice first paddle, would buy again.
Like the 94" length for use on our Lifetime sit upon kayaks which are wide. The paddles that come with the Lifetime kayaks are crap, shorter, and had us all wet on our first trip even with extra drip rings installed. So I bought two of these. These paddles are firm and slightly heavier (the wife had no complaints), but make up for it with good paddle strength imo. I like how one side of the paddle pole is oblong/oval in your hand so you know if your paddle is tilted/angled correctly. The two piece means obviously when clicked together they don't feel exactly like a one piece (duh), but the fit is not bad at all imo. Still feels sturdy and has a nice firm paddle that made paddling for hours a breeze on our next trip out. Plus we didn't get soaked as the longer paddle length definitely helped keep dripping outside the kayak.I would definitely buy these again. Granted, we've only used once, so this isn't a long term review, but my gut tells me we'll be using these for a good long while.

The handle is SUPPOSE to be like that
This is a great paddle all around, ive had a carslisle paddle before(that cost $125) and this is built just as solid. And to everyone complaining about the one side being slightly ovaled its SUPPOSE to be like that! Its there to let you know the angle of your paddle without looking at it(if u didnt notice it fits your hand best when the blades are lined up at the perfect angle), you can tell just by ur grip that its lined up and where you want it to be. Also just used this paddle white water rafting. The water level was very low so we were in single "funyakes" this paddle hit plenty of rocks and was used to push of them, and when i flipped it the paddle floated it did not sink. Strong and durable paddle

Great value
Are there better paddles out there? Yes there are but I haven't seen one that is anywhere near the cost of this paddle. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact the one of the two I ordered was missing the little button in the handle that holds the two handles together. True to Amazons reputation I reported the problem and they shipped a new paddle out right away and arranged for UPS to pick up the defective one at my house the next day. All I had to do was tape up the box and sit it out for the driver. This is why I try to buy items that are sold and shipped from Amazon. There were a few minors scratches in the replacement paddle but nothing worth complaining about since I will scratch it up using it.This paddle is well made and the connection of the handles is NOT WOBBLY like stated in another review. This is a pretty durable paddle and for the cost you really can't beat it. I looked at carbon fiber paddles and fiberglass paddles as well as other materials and for hard core kayakers they are great but for me and my son we need something that we can push off from the shore or a rock or tree and not worry about cracking our $185.00 paddle blade. All in all this is a great starter paddle that you will likely use for a very long time.

Good Product
I am very happy with the purchase. Based on price I knew I wasn't getting a high end paddle, but after using it and one twice the price in the same day, I can honestly say that I didn't notice the difference. I have since bought another kayak and picked up two more of these at Bass Pro. I'm 6'2" and my kayak is 31" wide. I can paddle just fine with 230 or 240. Flat open water I'd probably stick with 240 but if I was going to be in tight spaces (such as mangrove tunnels) I'd opt for the 230.

Great kayak paddle. To know what size you need hold 1 arm up & measure from floor to tip of middle finger.....
This paddle works great for me because its designed to grip your dominant hand better. To better explain 1 side isnt round, I thought it was a defect @ 1st until i read about its features. You can either have the paddles straight or you can have them set "twisted". Plus with the splash guards under each paddle I get 95% less water on me and in kayak then my old paddles without them. I paddle w/ my cell & smokes on my lap. Also to top it off they come in 2 sections which you can just throw in your trunk.

A very good paddle, great price, and as advertised
I bought 2 of these (220 and 230) 2 months ago and they have been used a lot in the weekends since then. They are light as expected, but we've not owned any other so cannot compare with the expensive carbon ones. I'm impressed that both still have solid connections, no wobbling at all. I've tried figuring out if I like either the left or right side feathering but actually just prefer the blades straight. If they ever do break down I'll try a carbon model but I recommend these as reliable.

High quality, low price.
When I used my kayak for the 1st time I didn't have a paddle yet so I rented one from a local place and it absolutely killed my arms after a very short time. I found this Carlisle Day Tripper paddle for under $40 and am so happy I bought it. My 2nd trip out was over 5 hours on the water and the lightweight feel and natural motion of the Day Tripper reduced fatigue immensely and quite simply didn't make me regret getting on the water like the rental paddle did.
